A Brief Report
The Zoonoses Ambassador 2024 (ZA24) programme was launched on 06th July 2024, the World Zoonosis Day.
The registrations were received from TEN Indian States and ONE from Overseas, making it a global event, in true sense. Geographic distribution of participants who registered for the ZA24 programme includes 21.88% each from Jammu and Kashmir, and Rajasthan, 15.63% from Uttar Pradesh, 12.5% from Maharashtra, 6.25% each from Gujarat, and West Bengal, 3.13% each from Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Tamil Nadu, and UAE.
The ZA24 programme was conducted in TWO phases. In the first phase, more than 800 responses were garnered by the participants through online survey. This was done to assess the levels of knowledge and understanding. of the members of the society, about zoonotic diseases, across the age, gender, background.
Of the registered participants, 37.5% moved to the second phase of the programme. During this phase, the prospective Zoonoses Ambassadors made presentations in schools, colleges, or in the home or office settings. A total of roughly 1600 direct beneficiaries were addressed. Considering that each of them would share the information with five members of family and friends, it reaches up to 8000 indirect beneficiaries.
From the second phase, 50% could be honoured as Zoonoses Ambassador. One of them is a youngest and zealous Zoonoses Ambassador, Ms Vani Vinod Kumar from Sharjah (UAE), who is a standard 7 student. A great inspiration for the younger generation, indeed.
