Cheetahs, once widespread across Asia and Africa, became extinct in India in 1952 due to hunting and habitat loss. In September 2022, South African cheetahs were reintroduced to India. Cheetahs are the fastest land animals, primarily solitary, and face vulnerabilities due to habitat loss and competition, with around 7,000 remaining in the wild.
